Do you buy or return your Rent the Runway clothes? | The Tylt
Rent the Runway is a fashionista’s dream come true. Founded in 2009, the company is a subscription-based service which allows for shoppers to rent their favorite high-end designers for a specific amount of time. Many people love the affordability and availability, as well as the noncommittal approach towards trends they may only wear once. Others end up buying all the wonderful looks anyhow. Do you treat yourself to Rent the Runway clothes or give them back?

If you try something on and like it, you buy it: it’s simple shopping math. Even though Rent the Runway is a rental service doesn’t mean you can’t buy at least some of the clothes they feature. And if you love all of them, all the better! It’s practically like having your very own personal stylist.
Plus, the basic plan is only $69 per month. If you’re buying the clothes on top of that, that’s not too bad depending on how you like to spend your money, is it? Life’s too short to skimp on the good stuff.
Sometimes you have to exercise self-control. The whole point of Rent the Runway is that people tend to toss aside most of the clothes they buy in the first place. Instead of wasting money, be tactical about the pieces you keep, especially if it’s for high-end occasions. How many dresses for weddings do you really need in your closet, anyway?
There’s also the freedom in experimenting with rented clothes. If you’re interested in a trend that’s hot at the moment, there’s no harm in testing it out and returning it later. This comes particularly handy for trends that are, shall we say, regrettable in the long run. Where was Rent the Runway during school picture day?
