Is Shia LaBeouf's career over? | The Tylt
Shia LaBeouf's career is a rollercoaster; he's gone from child star to movie star to struggling artist. His latest film "Man Down" flopped at the box office. The movie opened at only one theater (Burnley's Reel Cinema in the U.K.) and sold just three tickets. The film also holds a rotten rating of 15 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics argue Shia has been on a downward spiral, but is still young enough to make a comeback. After all, he is one of the few Disney child stars to become a legit actor. So, is Shia still a 🎥⭐?

Here's the synopsis of "Man Down," per IMDB:
In a post-apocalyptic America, former U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer searches desperately for the whereabouts of his son, accompanied by his best friend and a survivor.
The synopsis sounds appealing, but audiences were not excited enough to go see it. In Shia's defense, the movie only opened in one theater in the U.K. But years of fighting against being a movie star and publicly calling out filmmakers might've taken a toll on Shia's career. He's become an performance artist, indie actor and activist. Maybe making indie films will become a good change for him. Maybe he's just finding his footing.
So, does this mean this is the end of his career?
Hollywood Reporter's Alex Ritman writes:
[Burnley's Reel Cinema] manager said Man Down would end its weeklong run in Burnley's Reel Cinema this Thursday, "highly likely" without any further purchases being made, a move that would see the film's U.K. theatrical total max out at £21 ($26.20), rather less than the $454,490 it earned following a limited theatrical run in the U.S. last December.
Detriot News' Adam Graham argues Shia does a good job carrying the film. Shia is a big-name star. He could recover from this.
LaBeouf, who oozed oily charisma in this year’s 'American Honey,' ably carries 'Man Down' on his shoulders. He has an easy, natural chemistry with Shotwell, and he’s a reservoir of buried emotions in his scenes with Oldman.
Critics can't help but poke fun at Shia. Some comments are harsh, but detractors say that this might be the end of Shia's career.
The latest #ShiaLaBeouf movie sold just 1 ticket when it opened the UK... So I guess Shia LaBeouf was in the U.K. over the weekend? 😂 pic.twitter.com/w49naeQAL2

Shia LaBeouf Thriller 'Man Down' Sells One Ticket. Remember when Shia said he wasn't a movie star? He was right. https://t.co/2imuaukc9X

Many movie stars have gone through rough times. But one of the greatest Hollywood fables is that of a washed up star who bounces back from a downward spiral against all odds. Look at Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton.
Shia has struggled with being movie star, but he's talented. The original "Transformers" movie trilogy, "Holes," "Disturbia" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" were all box office hits. Don't play Shia like he has more flops than hits.
Liiiiike don't ever try to play Shia like he's not a great actor. 😒 #ShiaLaBeouf

Some fans admire Shia for taking on his role in "Man Down."
Man Down is a powerful movie, it demonstrates the complete world change of army veterans, well done Shia Labeouf.
