Below is the synopsis of "Baby Boy," per IMDB

This is the story of Jody, an unemployed young black man, who's been living with his mother for several years, even though he's got a child of his own. Romantically, he's having relationships with two women: Yvette, the mother of his son, and a new interest.

"Baby Boy" is considered a black cinema classic for successfully depicting life in the hood from the perspective of a young African-American man. But the film's plot involves a leading lady and her relationship struggles with the young man who is also the father of her son. No one can deny the onscreen chemistry of Tyrese and Taraji respectively playing Jody and Yvette. The movie was the breakthrough for Taraji.

Below is the synopsis of "Hustle & Flow," per IMDB.

With help from his friends, a Memphis pimp in a mid-life crisis attempts to become a successful hip-hop emcee.

Even before she garnered an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Taraji was gaining acclaim for her roles. In "Hustle & Flow," she got some traction with awards playing Shug, a sweet and shy pregnant prostitute who also happens to be a singing diamond in the rough. Before there was Cookie and Lucious on "Empire," there was DJay and Shug (played by Terrence Howard and Taraji).

"Hustle & Flow" was a surprise hit and a critical awards darling. Three 6 Mafia won the Best Original Song Oscar for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," a song that Taraji sang in the movie.

Check out a clip of Taraji as Shug singing below.
